Our district provides a Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS) throughout all of our schools and believes we have a responsibility to educate the whole child. Just as we provide high-quality instruction, support services and interventions to students academically, we find it is necessary to give the same when it comes to social emotional health and well-being.

Social-emotional skills are seen as a prerequisite for learning and go hand in hand with academics. Oxford Community Schools Family School Liaisons (FSL) help support the growing social and emotional needs of our students while working in conjunction with the family and community to cultivate educational success.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Who can receive FSL services?

A: Typically, the FSL works with students who are having difficulties that are impacting their education and learning. Students are usually referred by teachers, staff, or parents. There is also a form where students and parents are able to refer themselves.

Q: Is permission needed?

A: Yes, a parent or legal guardian must sign a permission slip in order for a child to meet with the FSL on a *regular basis. If the FSL meets with your child a note will be sent home that day.

Q: When do FSL's see students?

A: During the school day. Once the permission slip is signed and returned, the FSL will collaborate with the teacher to find a good time. The frequency and duration will be based on the need of the student.

*Regular indicates that a student will be in a planned short term intervention.

Services provided by the FSL will be short term, solution focused, and goal oriented. Outside referrals will be made to those that need more intense services at a parent's request.
