December 7, Door Malfunction at OHS

Dear Oxford Schools Community,

I am writing to inform you of an electronic malfunction at Oxford High School that caused the doors with card readers to unlock at some point last evening. When security entered the building before 5:00 a.m. this morning, they discovered the malfunction and began to clear the building. Additional security personnel were called in to help clear the building as well as check cameras throughout the building. As we reviewed cameras and other security systems, no one entered the building at any point that the card readers were not functional. The technology department is working with Eagle Security to determine the root cause of the issue. We will continue to evaluate the situation with our security team.

No threats were made to the building, and we did not receive any OK2Say tips about anything related to Oxford High School last night or this morning. The building is safe, and out of an abundance of caution we will have additional security measures in place at Oxford High School.

As always, safety of our staff and students is our top priority. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you,

Dr. Vickie L. Markavitch
Superintendent
