August 24, OK2Say Tip Deemed Non-Credible

Dear Oxford Parents and Guardians,

This morning, August 24, 2023, we were made aware of an OK2Say tip received regarding a concerning post on social media. Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, OHS School Resource Officer and administrators quickly investigated, found the originator of the post and learned it was notmeant to be a threat. The post was created by a parent, who accidently switched the order of two words in their first day of school post changing its meaning.  The intent was to say “Happy last first day of school” meant for their senior student and peers, instead the post stated “Happy first last day of school” and it was viewed in a forum that included freshmen parents which caused concern.

Please know, there was absolutely no intent of a threat and it was deemed non-credible by law enforcement. The parent who put up the post is devastated they brought such concern to all those who saw it.

Thank you to those who reported the concern immediately. It takes all of us to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,
Dr. Vickie Markavitch
