Dear Oxford Schools Community,
We are writing to follow-up the email we sent yesterday evening about a bird’s body found in the courtyard at OHS.
Administrators have fully investigated the situation and determined it was an act of nature. Through the review of camera footage and speaking with students and staff in the vicinity of the courtyard, we determined no deliberate act occurred. We also received an eyewitness report from a staff member that a hawk attacked a bird in the same courtyard last week.
Safety is a top priority. We appreciate the quick reporting and continue to encourage our school community to report school safety concerns in a timely manner. As a reminder, we have numerous safety layers in place such as weapon detection systems, an armed security force, weapons detection dog, and a visitor management system that continue to safeguard the school.
